This is so fuckin sad, another hero is biting the dust. @Matthew Kratter @fdd5e8f6…a73464a7 @74ffc51c…1d6d1856 are doing it out of their ego? You have to be out of touch to claim that @04c915da…3dfbecc9 .Is it something that your Epstein’s Bitcoin banker buddy @c4eabae1…61cbc4e0 with uncle Howard told you to say?

You really worked for Thiel? That would seem to be a no-exit scenario. He's a super villain.

Maybe they genuinely believe the spam issue is not a crisis. Ever consider that Matthew? Sub 1 sat/vB… when has an arbitrary price floor ever been beneficial in voluntary economic activity? Why would CSAM be hardcoded?? You’re overly concerned about plebs’ interactions with sequences of bits on the blockchain but completely ignore the rails for those bits that on occasion facilitate the most heinous behavior. Why would authorities or people we want to become bitcoiners ever make that distinction?

You, just like any of these spam supporting influencers, resort to personal attacks because ethically, technically and logically there is nothing wrong with 110.

I'm not in favour of BIP110, and I'm also not in favour of Peter Thiel type companies using Bitcoin as a decentralised immutable memory module. I started working to further Bitcoin because uncensorable money seemed like a good idea when the government made me show a vaccine QR code in order to buy food. However I did not sign-up to Bitcoin being used by Palantir in order to carry out genocide (i.e. Palestine, Ukraine) and build totalitarian control grids, that are known by many techno-theologians as 'The Beast System'. Why don't you put your Citrea use case on the Liquid network? At least there it'll have guardrails insofar as the functionaries will have an opportunity to do an emergency pause? https://youtu.be/luspw3GWApw

You encapsulated what has been bothering me over the last year. Odell was one of my faves and must be the reason I am even sending this note on nostr right now. But him having no strong public opinion on the unfolding mess over the past few years doesn't make sense when he is so hardcore on other things, like ditching Twitter entirely for Nostr. He didn't need to support Knots or BIP-110, but avoiding the topic felt like it was meant to avoid criticizing his friends. I understand and respect that, if that is indeed what is happening, but it's damaged his credibility on bitcoin and freedom tech, at least for me.

He is not investor in Twitter so he can go hardcore on Nostr. Anyways, same thoughts here brother, same thought. It’s so sad, but I guess we are growing up…

Ok let's say Odell is right and its an attack on bitcoin. You get a minority of node runners running a soft fork and reorg the chain by legally threatening miners by spamming the non fork chain with csam. If that's an valid attack surface how do you prevent governments from doing it a hell of a lot more effectively? @04c915da…3dfbecc9 @Matthew Kratter @472f440f…5669301e

That's a pretty good question. I think creating division in the Bitcoin culture and convincing a bunch of plebs they are on a holy war makes the attack more likely to succeed... Not unlike some weird social engineering attack. Now Unless things drastically change it will fail miserably, but the more "support" they can gin up, the more disruptive the attack, which appears to be the purpose of all this. Ironically, this will probably make Bitcoin more resistant to this type of attack in the future. The haters are blowing their wad too soon. Anyways, thanks for the cheap sats and gfy.

The Problem Bitcoin core with overwhelming network use (98%) increases the default op return limit from 83 to 100k. Why? The number one reason as stated by Jameson Lopp on “The ‘What is Money?’ Show”, Citrea’s protocol needed large blobs of data widely distributed and relayed in the P2P network. Only in rare cases would that data actually need to be mined and added to a block. I believe every other reason given was a “fake because” to justify reason number one. Best solution so far is Bip 110. For those that don’t like it they need to put forth a better solution. Saying it’s not a problem, or it sucks but there is nothing you can do makes me question everything about you. To be fair I could be wrong about everything.

False, I specifically explained that Citrea neither needed nor asked for the change. Naughty clanker!

Bitcoin runs on FOSS. There are too many businesses trying to profit from bitcoin without actually acquiring any. VC are turning their investment capital into spam dust hoping for radical asymmetry modeled from OpenSea. The VC transactions are financing miners who will be exiting stage left with each halving. Odell blasts Strategy for accummulating BTC, but not business actors making actual protocol changes and hacks that put bitcoin at risk. The Core vs Knots "debate" is corporate VC stonewalling to the max. All this AI generated filth (Runes and other stupid shit) is not good for nodes. The backed up sewer mempool and a UTXO bloat on its way to 90% spam does not seem to be an issue worthy of discussion to these people. There is only one simple solution, which is to follow Szabo and Rug the Spammers. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dYA9vYa0iwQ

And what about lightning network features that depends on OP_RETURN?
0000 sats
BitcoinIsFuture22d ago
Continue to work. 99% of all nodes filtered OP_RETURN larger than 83 Bytes and Lightning network was working fine. Meaning majority of OP_RETURN was smaller than 83 Bytes. That was the case for 15 years. BIP 110 allows OP_RETURNs smaller than 83 Bytes. No problem for LightningNetwork.

But like how? Right now its not a state sponsored attack (probably) if this is a real weakness and all you need to do is control some relatively small amount of the hash to cause a major reorg how are you supposed to defend against it Fundamentally its just what people consider to be the right chain right?
0000 sats
Scrotus23d ago
It won't work but it if there were not the social engineering/ divide the movement aspect then the whole thing it would be much easier to defend against. And if you are the attacker and you can trick some miners(I'm sure some plebs running bit axe might run this) or the hostage tactics actually work on a non negligible amount of the miners then even better. Not state sponsored attack(probably)? I''m nott sure about that one 📝 62d5cf31…

Swaps, coinjoins etc. all works fine. Bitcoin worked like that _always_. OP_RETURN was capped at 83 Bytes and all worked fine. The compromised Core changed it because of Citrea and because of shitcoiners and they apparently lie that Lightning or other things won't work. This is OP_RETURN true history https://melvin.me/public/articles/opreturn.html

if its not gonna work wtf is odell and anyone else crying about? We don't realistically believe bitcoins going to get banned. We argue the probabilities and game theory. Is the game theory of this really the same? It looks like a small intolerant minority(bip 110) can simply soft fork and wait. Maybe they attack the chain with jpegs actively or they just wait for inevitable spam. (I don't think anyone is arguing spam isn't real) If no one values the new ruleset nothing happens If it has value every block produced under bip110 its valid for all players. How much of the hash power makes this minority enough of a risk miners can't ignore it? Is 1% enough? 10?
