50% of the UTXO set is bloated with UTXOs that are 1,000 sats or less. 37% of block space since 2023 is Spam. Spam increases the propensity to overpay to use Bitcoin as Money.

So miners would lose 37% of fees? Spam doesn’t seem to have made a difference in fees, lowest it’s ever been. Seems like a non issue.

Spam will come and go in waves, like other traffic and like it has done before. Keeping non monetary crap out of the blockchain will reduce permanently stored bloat, reduce the bandwidth needed to IBD and stay synched and reduce CPU/ram resources for verification. If we keep the option of running a full node accessible to as many people on the planet as possible this will keep bitcoin accessible as money for them as well. Do you think bitcoins future should be money in the hands of the many, or a d!c#pic playground for the first world?

Mempool is empty bro if anything we should be begging people to use it more. I don’t believe in your either or statement it’s BS. Bitcoin is supposed to be censorship resistant and permissionless, censoring tx we don’t like is antithetical in my view.

Currently the spam- on Bitcoin is more than 40% and brings much less than 1% of fees to the miners. 📝 fe0725d7… https://blockspaceweekly.substack.com/p/issue-3-three-yea… this is current real data https://thebitcoinportal.com/onchain/spam-analysis/overview

Why begging though? Educating yes, but an empty mempool is a truer metric for where bitcoin adoption is really at. We both know that if bitcoin succeeds, empty mempools will be a memory. But why fill it with nonmonetary crap in the meantime? Mining as an industry is already bigger than bitcoin needs it to be. Making mining more profitable than it should be by cramming data into the empty block space is skewing the incentives. We've seen that data degeneracy can push tx prices higher. Any upward pressure is unjust to a puritan as myself. I don't see it as sensorship. You're OK with the Bitcoin network not relaying MasterCard transactions, or real estate sale transactions. That's a type of sensorship. Bitcoin the network is for transferring bitcoin. Why should I have to verify and store non monetary data? There is no set definition of what bitcoin is to everyone. Just Fuzzy consensus about what we all agree on. Non monetary data is not bitcoin to me, and does reduce its's qualities as money. That's why 110.

Begging is just hyperbole. Why is the data make the transaction non monetary, the transaction costs sats in the form of fee and sats are money therefore all transactions are monetary. If I draw a mustache on a $1 bill and pay you with it does the mustache make that a non monetary transaction? I do not care what data anyone adds to there transactions because the fee of your transaction is dictated by the size of the transaction if you are willing to pay who cares the block size is already limited it makes no difference to me. All Bitcoin transactions are monetary there is no spam. Any censorship is a threat to the value of the network. The networks value increases with active users. Censorship is a slippery slope.
