BITCOIN MEETUP 08 WAS A SUCCESS! 🚀⚡️ We recently hosted our first meetup of 2026—and our 8th since launching our monthly program! A huge thank you to Trezor Academy for the support We had an incredible session in Thika Town. @mukungufelix led a deep dive into the evolution of money, an intro to #Bitcoin, and why #Bitcoin matters today. Thanks to the Lightning Network, every attendee set up a wallet and practiced sending and receiving sats! 🎥 Video: BITCOIN FOR EVERYONE We kicked things off with a foundational teaching on Bitcoin by @Felix .From the history of money to the unique value proposition of #Bitcoin, understanding the "Why" is at the core of our mission to create genuine Bitcoin awareness. 📚💡 Hands-on learning is key! We helped attendees set up the @Blockstream App to demonstrate the difference between self-custodial and custodial wallets, and placed a heavy emphasis on best practices for safeguarding seed phrases To bring the theory to life, we performed a live on-chain transaction on @Blockstream App. We tracked the progress on the @mempool so everyone could see exactly how Bitcoin transactions are recorded on a public, immutable, and transparent ledger. ⛓️👀 A major highlight was our deep dive into cold storage. We demonstrated how to set up a hardware wallet, explaining why taking your private keys offline is the ultimate step in securing your wealth. We then had people set up Lightning wallets like @Blink Wallet and @Wallet of Satoshi and had everyone receive and send sats to each other. It's a great practice, as everyone gets to use Bitcoin and see how easy, cheap, and fast it is to move value! ⚡️🌍 We wrapped up by showcasing tools available in Kenya that make #bitcoin, the everyday money. Attendees joined our community on @Fedi ,set up @ef772e41…a265b969 ,and some bought Bitcoin for the first time using @Bitika and learnt to spend it via @Tando.me . We recently completed two excellent sessions with our Cohort 9 students focused on the technical side of #Bitcoin, led by npub1337xxyne0pw52zgd984xqqs2q7qhqpt7phhn7xp6t9yt406vrvescdpkdt .Our students gained a deep understanding #Bitcoin transactions , from broadcasting to checking details on @mempool and finally grasping the mechanics of mining. The best part was a fun game organized by D++ where students competed to find the nonce for a reward! In total, 18 students walked away with 47,000 sats in rewards. It was a fun and successful session, co-hosted by @Felix

MEETUP #005 WAS A SUCCESS! One thing is clear across all our meetups in Kenya 🇰🇪: Education is the leading indicator to mass #Bitcoin adoption. Thank you to npub13ljnkd633c7maxatymv3y2fqq8vt3qk7j3tt0vytv90eztwgha9qmfcfhw and @ TrezorAcademy for supporting our monthly meetups and mission. The young people in Thika were excited to learn Bitcoin the right way, and we're happy to keep raising awareness to drive adoption. Here’s a look at how it went down! ⬇️ @Felix led a fantastic introductory session, covering the History of Money, the basics of Bitcoin, how to use it, and why it matters. His engaging, practical activities kept the energy high throughout the entire session! ⚡️ Attendees were set up on @Blockstream App , for an on-chain transaction demonstration. They learned the critical importance of safely backing up seed phrases. We watched one transaction move through the @mempool until it was confirmed, showing just how transparent the #Bitcoin ledger is. Next, we used @Blink Wallet for a Lightning transaction demo. With the help of The Core Team, 1,000 sats were passed from the first attendee to the last. This was a clear, practical way to show the difference between on-chain and Lightning transactions—fast and cheap! Chris took time to help everyone know how to set up @Trezor Safe 3 hardware wallets. He covered wallet recovery and explained the vital importance of cold storage for securing your #Bitcoin for the long term. @Felix demonstrated that #Bitcoin mining is a game of random guesses using @D++ 's resource https://dplus.plus/mine . It was a lot of fun! Three lucky winners walked away with 706 sats each Finally, we showed attendees how easy it is to use Bitcoin in Kenya. We introduced @Tando.me and @Bitika to demonstrate buying #Bitcoin with M-PESA and then spending it with Tando using a Lightning wallet wherever M-PESA is used 🇰🇪🙌 We sent 500 sats to @Bitcoin Africa Story using @Geyser !This was a great demonstration of how #Bitcoin is a powerful tool for empowering and funding emerging projects globally. 🌍 We appreciate everyone who attended and The Core Team for making this meetup a success! The turnout was amazing with 30+ attendees eager to deepen their understanding of #Bitcoin — not just as new money, but as a tool for financial freedom, empowerment, and building resilient communities. These meetups continue to grow, proving that the appetite for Bitcoin knowledge in Kenya🇰🇪 is stronger than ever. Every session connects curious minds, sparks meaningful conversations, and brings more people into the global #Bitcoin movement. Sats were passed around from attendee to attendee in seconds, showcasing bitcoin’s power for fast, low-cost payments. The session also included a Trezor Hardware Wallet demo by Chris from unboxing to generating a seed phrase, securing a PIN, and exploring self-custody 🔐 Hands-on security, hands-on sovereignty. Learning was fun too! Attendees answered quiz questions & won rewards — caps, T-shirts, wristbands, stickers, and even a Trezor Safe 3 Hardware wallet #Bitcoin education + community vibes = unstoppable. Highlight moment: Chris paid for The Core Cap using #bitcoin on a @Bitcoinize POS. This wasn’t just a demo — it was proof of Bitcoin’s role in real commerce in Kenya 🇰🇪.
