Can anyone recommend some ways to swap/get #Monero #XMR these days? No KYC and decentralised would be great. In truth I used to buy it on exchanges, many, many years ago. Binance and others have delisted since it. Have been spending it over the years and our stack is running low; I've been thinking about replenishing supply. I've looked into a few ways, but they all seem so... awkward (BasicSwap, other atomic methods, seem highly convoluted). Cake Wallet offers a swap but takes a few percentage fees--seems fairly simple though. TradeOgre shut down or rugged... from what I read? Interested to know what Monero advocates use these years. (and please no zealotism: I just want to know what options exist nowadays, no need for some hardcore philosophical rant--thanks!)

Will check those out, thank you! I was reading about haveno earlier today but I've never used it.

Do you want fiat to XMR? Or crypto to XMR? Fiat to XMR: -Retoswap (Haveno) -XMRBazaar Crypto to XMR: -Trocador (Almost any crypto to XMR. Simple to use swap aggregator) -Bisq (BTC to XMR. Simple enough but you migh have to wait for someone to take your offer if you don't like any of the current rates) -Retoswap (Crypto to XMR. Same as above) -Robosats (Lightning to XMR. Same as above) -EigenWallet (BTC atomic swaps. Simple to use. Fees aren't the cheapest, but also not crazy either) All are no KYC. Thorchain and SeraiDEX are also on the horizon for easy to use crypto to XMR swaps just something to keep in mind for the future. https://retoswap.com/ https://xmrbazaar.com/search/buy-exchange/ https://trocador.app/ https://bisq.network/ https://eigenwallet.org/ https://learn.robosats.org/docs/quick-start/ https://kycnot.me/?categories=exchange&categories=aggrega…

P2P + Haveno DEX is the gold standard now that LocalMonero/AgoraDesk are gone. Haveno (RetosSwap / DawnSwap) uses 2-of-3 multisig escrow -- you never send funds to a custodian. EUR<>XMR directly, no KYC anywhere. Cash by Mail works across all of EU. Atomic swaps (BTC<>XMR via COMIT/Farcaster) are also an option if you already have BTC. 683 completed trades under my previous handle (chingchongfalung) on LocalMonero/AgoraDesk before they shut down. Happy to walk you through it. DM: Telegram @arnoldnakamura

Thank you very much, this is very helpful! So, I don't mind either path, I can get fiat into crypto without issue. There's a few I've checked in the past, like bisq, but it just felt so awkward, spread and prices so poor, that I just didn't want to try it out. I feel that simpleswap is somewhat similar to this, but I haven't tried it either. It's very interesting to know that thor might be supporting #XMR soon, that'd be ideal. I'll definitely have to research haveno as it's been mentioned multiple times now. trocador as well. Appreciate the detailed response! :MEOWDY:

Yea admittedly the UX for this stuff isn't quite there yet if you're used to exchanges. Trocador might be the easiest, quickest, and cheapest to use among these, but you're trusting a single swap provider not to freeze your funds during the swap (although they rate the chance of that happening for each swap provider). Eigen is probably the most trustless method followed by bisq/retoswap/robosats (because it's a multisig so you're relying on cooperation from arbitrators if something happens). Never had a problem with any of them myself though. Here is the latest news about Thorchain adding XMR from a few days ago. Basically they're hoping to get it out sometime in 2026 but it's privacy properties and multisig makes it a little more complicated than other blockchains to implement: https://xcancel.com/THORChain/status/2030831688532762713?…

Thanks for the advice! I am looking into haveno, I guess I am used to the instant execution of orders from DEX and CEX, that admittedly the latency with some of these options does concern me somewhat. Just something different to get used to, I suppose.

Thanks for that extra advice, I did look at Trocador after a few of you folks recommended it. I like how you get a choice of backend providers, but also the cheapest and fastest route was rated "C", so yeah, I get that it's a bit of a gamble as well. I'll take another look at robosats and others when I have some more time! I think if Thorchain came out with XMR support that'd be one of the easiest and quickest routes, however they do get a lot of criticism for being a funnel for criminal assets. Whenever platforms are exploited or rugged, it often goes via Thor. That may cause them some extra pain when implementing XMR as it would be a natural avenue for asset laundering on a larger scale.

Anything we use criminals are going to use. Can't stop that with anything in life especially in open and permissionless systems (which is itself a defense for everyday people against even more powerful criminals). Overwhelming majority are normal users though.

I agree with you there. It's just moreso around the fact that they know they're going to get a lot of grief and heat for that, so I'm sure they are taking more care to implement Monero support with that in mind. The argument is the same with fiat, criminals love using dollar bills...
