Have we gone from "Software is eating the world" to "AI is eating the world", fundamentally just saying Software is eating itself?

Did the software industry just die in 2019?

This is the absolute state of it. This is what happens when you let totally unimpressive people do a job that they are totally incapable of doing! https://reclaimthenet.org/melanie-dawes-ofcom-lawsuit-onl…

The biggest use of AI by far, is people using it to justify their opinions or attempting to invalidate others

the important thing to remember, is an opinion is opinion. It will exist whether you agree with it or not. it will continue to exist. You may think, your opinion is more valid, but here's a thing, opinions will differ, people will clash over them, but they will always continue to exist.

I am old enough to remember when Silicon valley, promised us that the internet would help us find the cure for cancer within 10 years. What we got: * our privacy invaded * society fragmentation isolation * cheap shit delivered from China delivered straight to your front door * hours of doomscrolling * a mental health crisis But yeah lets all swallow that AI will deliver the cure for cancer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rv1szY9rBro

A major lesson being played out in real time. If you keep continually threatening violence and death , you really shouldn’t be surprised when you start getting punched in the face. There are no innocent parties involved

Been pondering these statements today. The question i have to ask, is what problems does he think he is solving by disrupting the software development industry ? Was there some kind of problem within the industry that wasn't producing code fast enough? don't get me wrong, i make use of AI daily. i get it to churn out code, and to be honest churning out code has never been a problem in the software industry per se. Software for intents and purposes has always fundamentally been worthless. admittedly one of the biggest problems in software development, has always been predominantly focused around project management and unlocking the perceived value stream of software projects. On average, 75% of software delivery projects fail, almost none of them due to the speed of code being delivered. Most software project fail for a myriad of different reasons, none of them really focused around the speed of coding. i suppose in some sense, having AI generate the code quicker, we can reduce the speed at which we reach failure. I'm really perplexed at what problem we're actually solving with this elimination. Do we have some bench mark we can use to measure what success actually looks like, I accept Software Developers, may in many instances be nothing more than the Coach Builders before the motor car came about. However, its not exactly clear what defines success. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IxHWjYFLizA

if you're into Bitcoin, and you're just waiting for that utopia of Hyper Bitcoinization to happen, so we can all just be super rich and the state has been separated from money. i've got news for you, it simply isn't just going to happen. its going to take a lot of time, effort and hard work to make it happen. It is going to take a lot of work, that many of you will not want to do. its going to take a lot of effort put into doing a lot of uncomfortable things. The cold hard simple fact is, its going to take an almighty political effort, because the current status quo is just way too powerful. You can take the total weak position, and sit on the sidelines and moan, or you can roll up your sleeves, and decide to get stuck in and start changing the system from within. Do the hard uncomfortable things, put in the proof of work. Be The Change, to make the change. Failing that Bitcoin, will only ever be one of those curious curiosities of a forgotten age.

I don’t want to be the guy that was right, that is nothing more than egotistical fallacy. However, being part of wider community or society that takes morally and ethically correct communal decisions and actions is far more beneficial to everyone

It is a basic premise of software engineering that you cannot allow memory allocation, ie state management, to grow , unchecked and unmonitored . It is also vitally important to ensure that all unnecessary processes or services are disposed of to ensure optimum execution of an application. Yet some people tend to think this same discipline does not need to be applied to state. A software system will only be as successful as its state management. The same as any society or community will only be as successful as its state management

To claim nobody voted for any action of the state, is often tacit acknowledgement that also nobody voted for the alternative at best, at worst that no other alternative was presented due to total lack of participation
