The best thing to help make mixing easier , besides the mandatory 10000 hours , is room treatment. So before really worry about a pre amp or which eq to use , you gotta worry about what you’re hearing , and the accuracy at which it’s portrayed.
Happy day !
Yall ever listen to a mix the next day , and absolutely hate the decisions you made the day before ? I used to do this all the time .. obviously more experience was needed, but ultimately this started to diminish when I mixed for feelings not for mixing.
Working on this mix for a client , focusing on the drums , and it’s amazing what half a dB or a whole dB of volume adjustments on the kick , can make on the drum balance .. we won’t even get into individual frequencies or ranges .. but the end goal is all that matters .. vision
Happy Day !!
Thinking about this today a bit. But after experience , the next best thing for getting pro level mixes (which is a daily goal) , is having an accurate monitoring environment.
Happy day !!
