I live on 14.5 acres in Amish country in Ohio. I have raised chickens, turkeys, ducks, rabbits & sheep. I’ve planted cherries, hazelnuts, peaches, mulberries, paw paws, apples, pears & nectarines. I garden (badly) but I am learning more every year. I work remotely for a bank as a mortgage underwriter- fingers crossed I am still doing that when you read this. I hunt on my land - have gotten 5 deer since I moved out here. Into everything homesteading.

She was an awesome mastiff. The drooliest, doggiest, cuddliest doggo there ever was.
We don’t deserve dogs, but I am glad that they are a part of our worlds.

Morning pond report is that the horrible cold has broken! It’s 2 out there right now, but daily temperatures are now in the 20’s instead of the teens. 10 degrees is a lot when you’re that low. Next week we’re supposed to be above freezing. Not looking as forward to that as the snow will start melting. Oh well, that’s how seasons go!

It’s a bitter -15 on the pond today so today’s report is cold! Still no deer on my game cam. With days left it’s not looking promising. My boiler went out this morning so we lit a fire. Luckily we got the boiler back up & running within a few hours as my house bleeds heat quick!

Morning pond report is bitter cold today. It’s -3 out there, but at least heading in the right direction.
Very sore this morning. I’ve stepped up my workout game this year & have been either on the elliptical or on a Matt (strength training) every day. It’s catching up to me & I’m achy & sore. It’s a good sore, I earned it.

Morning pond report is frosty! It’s 4 out there right now. There’s been no deer on my game cam in over 2 weeks, and this weekend is the end of the season. I can’t believe I am going to come up short!! So disappointed. Hopefully a herd will move back through sometime in the next few days & I can try for one this weekend.

Morning pond report is snow!! We got at least a foot. I’ve shoveled off the deck 4x since yesterday morning. Unfortunately our snow blower broke, but a neighbor showed up with a bobcat to save the day. 2nd pic is from the little stream that is at the back of the property. It’s frozen solid & covered in snow. Spring breakup this year is going to be rough.

Today’s pond report is frozen with some bunny tracks. Hubs cleaned the snow off the deck Thursday morning so I can make it to the rail for the pic. This is better, I should make sure this stays cleaned off.
