cultured nyc 🇺🇦2d agoNice Jeremy Denk piano recital at Town Hall this afternoon. The first half was women composers. An interesting format, he would play an étude by Hélène de Montgeroult*, followed by a short piece by another woman composer: Missy Mazoli, Amy Beach, Ruth Crawford Seeger, Meredith Monk, and Clara Schumann.
The RCS was my favorite of the set (predictably).
*Who may or may not have saved herself from la guillotine by playing variations on La Marseillaise.
