Not being an expert but still having an opinion was perfectly normal until covid. The experts get it wrong pretty much all the time, so I'm ready to hear what the non-experts have to say.

The availability of data PLUS the ability to collect and parse it quickly is a game changer. The temporary expert -- an intelligent person with no subject matter expertise but presented with accurate adequate data and context -- can parse the situation and give an expert opinion that is valuable. They can't remain an expert indefinitely, because no long term memory. This is a concept I've been talking about for years but have not seen assessed / described formally
