Yes, and it's a good question for all Bitcoiners to consider. The fact that El Salvador has not loosened gun ownership restrictions for the public brings bad vibes... I don't think there is a better country to loosen those restrictions than the safest country in the Western Hemisphere. Suddenly we Bitcoiners are admiring a country, because -- thanks to its strong leadership -- it's very safe. Suddenly we love a strong leader, who -- as far as I know -- always forgets to mention the fact that historically speaking the state is the worst mass murderer. And instead of warning about the state's track record, he says that "if a State doesn't overcome crime, it's because it is complicit". I would not be surprised if this way of thinking is abused everywhere -- now that pretty much every country has a problem with crime. I am not denying the fact that El Salvador was very unsafe, and that people must be very happy about it being safe now. I am just saying that China has a very low crime rate too.
