The most likely case is that you have a large follow list and we were still trying to load in all your user's metadata. On the new chat screen we show you your follows first, if you search, we filter that list but also start a more global (web of trust based) global search to find people that match your search concentrically outwards from your own follows. The two top ones on that list are fake accounts, the 3rd and 5th are old highlighter test account - I should nuke them somehow. It's odd that my real account isn't showing though.
