Core Devs made a massive controversial change to the default node behavior. Sure, it wasn’t a consensus change, but we should tighten consensus rules on Bitcoin to mitigate the problem of non-financial use-cases. If we had already tightened consensus then the recent Core dev recklessness would not have been possible, and they wouldn’t have felt compelled to do it because the Citrea use-cases would have already been forced to not spam the blockchain due to consensus rules. It’s time to re-affirm that Bitcoin is money not arbitrary data storage. Consensus changes are the way to do this correctly.

Bitcoin is valuable because it's black market money. Not because the governments allow us to use it. Ideally they don't want you to own anything that cant be controlled easily by them and force their debasement on you and surveil you. They control the law and we will never out manoeuvre them. They can just make something up to make it illegal. If bitcoin can be changed easily (it does very little to combat spam as far as I've read) it has no value as it will be coopted

I dunno I use lightning on the regular and it's pretty great. All these network effects. Everyone knows about it. Fixed supply number go up. Fucking great technology. I'm in control of my own money and no one can stop me A good buzz around new l2s ark bark spark and different protocols getting built out such as payjoin. Never been easier to self custody. I'm happy where I am. Being a profitable human and saving in hard money. Bitcoin makes me optimistic for the future.

Wait, your chart is a)not from an unbiased source, and b) doesn't appear to match up with the 2 versions shown at the bottom. That shows v30 as the largest st 16,000, yet the chart shows more. What's going on here?

So, what I am seeing on my own node is basically confirmed by these stats: only 15% of nodes are V30. Still running 29 (but certainly not Knots) myself and I guess I'll continue to do so until I see a coherent explanation on why I should upgrade to 30.
