I want to flush my toilets with the bath water but my house is old and I don’t have a basement…. Trying to devise a way to do so is hard…

I'm confused as to why a basement is needed for this.

Errr it would be a lot easier… This house is on a slab… it was built in 1962… There’s like no room for n e thing new…

Why bother tho ?.. but I think the easiest way if it's a bathtub is to use a bucket for your next flush

Be realistic about the tank size. Your average shower uses 17 gallons of water. An average flush uses 1.6 gallons. You can cut that down by retrofitting one of those dual flush systems. If you are flushing 10 times between showers, you get away with a 20 gallon tank. A 20 gallon RV cube tank is 21" x 17" x 14" and might fit in the cupboard under your bathroom sink or ceiling mounted above your toilet tank.

Where do I put the grey water reservoir?

I see I assumed you had access directly to the sewer line with flushing/gray water

If you let the water drain to one floor level below, then you'd need to spend energy pumping it back up, plus the height of the toilet. Installing a tank above the toilet, and pumping to it from the tub, would be "easier". That is, unless you're filling a 100 gallon tub daily. In that case, using an outdoor reservoir would be more suitable, and easier than pumping it up ~15' after draining to a basement. If you're looking at the "ease vs difficulty" of a one-time install, then you're not paying attention to the long term factors.

Trust me I think the easiest way to do it is just pumping water out of the pool in straight into the tanks… But then I have to have a full bath tub all the time… I figure if I put a tank under the tub with overflow into plumbing it and putting a pump in that tank would work but it would make for an extremely limited access to the tank….

Your goal is to never use fresh water for flushing? I thought it was to make used bath water useful. I'm even more confused now.

What else is it good for? I’m not putting that in my garden!

I'm thinking you mis-read what I just wrote, or you're making several assumptions toward some other meaning. πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ
