I recently found out my grandmother’s maiden name was Δελί In Greek, the word “deli” described someone who was: • fearless • wild • a daredevil • a little crazy in a brave way Someone who fought without fear. “Deliler” “the fearless ones.” were known for charging into battle first — Αλεξάκος On the other side of my family, the name Αλεξάκος (Alexakos) traces back to villages near Tripoli in Arcadia The name comes from Alexandros, meaning “defender of men.” Fearless ones. Defenders. Finding those names in my family story honestly feels powerful. Today the battlefield looks different. But the fight for truth, freedom, and sovereignty continues. ⚡₿ @RedTailHawk

Love it! This is the way! Looking at what words mean in their original form, comparing them to words that descended from them and their meaning, and connecting the dots yields interesting insights into the propagation of language from person to person or tribe to tribe through time. I'm glad our conversation inspired you to reflect on words more in this way :)
