Ah ha! Great idea! I’m building a coop from scrap/junk at the moment. Been trying to figure out how to make nesting boxes as quickly as possible with what I have.

Buckets, milk crates, cat litter containers. I have a ton of empty plant pots so figured id give it a try.

Love using up stuff that’s just lying around, what inspired me to build the coop which is an old broken trailer and the wood from an old deconstructed barn. I’ve got a load of old Apple crates, but I think they might be a little roomy? Will give them a try!

Love to build with what I have. These are milk crates wrapped in lawn and leaf bags.

I may steal the wrapping idea! My other nest boxes are milk crates but sometimes they kick the eggs through the holes.

Those crates should be okay. May need to add some extra bedding in there to fill the space

They fit great inside the bags then I just fold it in. I pick up a bunch of leaf bags from places that have weeds in the lawn in the fall to use for winter bedding. By spring I have enough material for a compost pile.

Yes! I do the same. Find the gold people throw away and make use of it
