Generally agree but there will always be spam no matter what. When needed it will get priced out but there will be periods where spam are too expensive . I appreciate the effort and it’s still interesting to see how the network reacts to the proposals even though it’s somewhat dangerous. If it succeed it s kind of a blue print for future user activated soft fork and if it fails I guess it kind of marginalize the effort. When needed the network will fork…

I never even saw ctv client, did drivechain even had one? but I heard of BIP110 and I know where the clients are and I know they compile and run on my computer. if BIP110 flies it doesn't mean just about any fork will. it means node runners can still assemble against VCs pushing shitcoins with fiat

As the fee increase the spam will slow down but never completely die out, it might prevent people from buying coffee on chain but a lot of these use cases would’ve on layer 2 anyway. block size is limited anyway eventually a lot more activity has to happen on layer 2. I get both sides and it’s interesting endeavors just don’t think there is a rush and enough support at the moment.

You don’t censor spam, you rate limit it. Censorship requires content moderation by a centralised entity. There is no such entity in Bitcoin besides core devs. The rest are nodes that don’t do content moderation. They enforce rate limits, and they always have. Honestly it’s tiresome reading about the censorship narrative. Core propagandist just throw away some words like censorship, permissionless, free markets (all good stuff) but without the nuance around them and plebs eat them up and start repeating them ad infinitum. This this way, for public record you have to write down everything that is said. (In an English-speaking place) Everyone can say anything they want. But if a large section of people say things in chinese now the recorders are writing paragraphs of phonetic translations with english characters. This creates a strain on everyone trying to read the record and creates an attack vector where people embed very offensive things in chinese phonetics that when said in english most people wouldn't like to say or read. Narrowing the rules of "You can only speak english but say ANYTHING you want" is not a censorship of idea conveyance (the point of language). The point of a protocol is its purpose. The purpose of bitcoin is to transfer units from one set of addresses to another. Creating outputs that go nowhere, creating unspendable outputs, embedding superfluous data in an input, and creating anchorpoints on outputs that hold massive data stores are all outside this purpose. Saying no one can define spam or it's a meaningless distinction are using somekind of post-modernist "nothing means anything" anti-logic.

Semantic games. Yes, sats technically move - but that's form, not substance. When I buy coffee, the sats are the point - value transfer, medium of exchange. When someone inscribes a monkey JPEG, the sats are dust (often 330 sats, $0.25). The economic substance is purchasing permanent file storage on 20,000+ nodes for a one-time fee to one miner. If I pay you $0.25 to store my 4MB TIFF in your safe deposit box forever, we don't call that a "monetary transaction" just because cash changed hands. We call it storage rental with a terrible contract for the landlord. Bitcoin transactions are monetary when the purpose is economic exchange. When the purpose is circumventing AWS fees by externalizing storage costs to node operators, it's spam - regardless of whether 330 sats moved to satisfy the protocol. Run Knots. Distinguish money from files.

If personal tragedies disqualify technical arguments, half of Core's devs (who admitted they don't even own Bitcoin) would be disqualified too. Yes, by IRS definitions, paying for storage is a "monetary transaction." So is paying someone to dump toxic waste in their backyard. The question isn't whether sats moved - it's what service you expect in return. If you pay 25¢ to store a 4MB JPEG permanently on my node, you're not engaging in monetary exchange - you're externalizing storage costs. You pay once; I pay forever (disk, bandwidth, RAM). That's not commerce; that's a negative externality. Bitcoin is optimized for peer-to-peer electronic cash, not "peer-to-permanent-file-hosting." The fact that you can abuse the protocol to store data doesn't obligate me to relay it, validate it, or store it. I can pay you 25¢ to paint graffiti on your house too - that doesn't make it art you want to keep. Run Knots. Filter the externality.

All transactions then create an externality of some amount of forever data storage. What's the difference between a 4mb tx and a 100kb tx and why is one negative? My node validates transactions just fine with much less than 128 gb of ram. It's just your opinion that raspberry pi should be able to run full nodes and it is a false dichotomy to say islts raspberry pis or data centers.
