Someone, probably a US based catholic young male, subscribed my email to a bunch of lists in order to spam me. I can't be bothered to trace the IP they used for this. But Luke, control your herd.

However heated a discussion is, attacks are never ok. We want the best outcome for Bitcoin. We can't achieve that by shutting down people we disagree with.

Well you can't do anything about it, so the only solution is to disable your spam filter. 🤔

Weak and lame of you, Sjors. You should apologize.

nobody needs to apologize, don't be ridiculous

It's also unclear what he's offended by. If it's the "catholic" part, I'm merely describing the suspect without any value judgement. There's additional context that allowed me to narrow it down. I won't share that, because it's something only the perpetrator would know, so potentially relevant if they escalate.

Imagine explaining things and then people not being able to handle the truth. I understand why politicians prefer to keep things vague and impossible to understand.

The censor who wants to allow all kind of spam on Bitcoin complains about spam? Double standards anyone?

Permissions system vs decentralized permissionless It really is a bad analogy

Those online discussion somewhat lack the nuance needed to form an opinion. To me both sides make important points. Longer form discussions. I find that https://bitcoin-audible.castos.com/episodes/take-099-op-r… And https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/bitcoin-explained… Actually help both with forming an opinion and to understand that the question is nuanced and more complex that internet shitposting can ever convey. To reiterate, personal attacks are never ok. If you disagree come prepared to refute the actual points, not to shut people down.

GitHub vs gitworkshop. Perhaps we can focus on which tools are good and why they are good rather than focusing on which people are "good".

Again, LOL Email - SMTP, IMAP,POP3 are protocols, just like Bitcoin is a protocl. Email is decentralized system. I can run my own email server, just like I can run my own Bitcoin Knots node. BGP routing is non-deterministic. Email is not centralized. Who do you ask for permission to setup your email? You need to learn a thing or two.

High horse syndrome prevalent here. Futile trying to get these people to abstain. You'll get the usual "you're retarded" or "you're autistic" as a comeback.

No, that's not it. Email spam filters work because Google makes them for you and update them every day. And they only work in Gmail, everything else sucks. Do you get it? Try a bit

Only Google you say. Now that is retarded. All those from the screenshots are spam lists that are not Google.
