I’m running a small #zapvertising health experiment on NOSTR ⚡ I reviewed an article on cardiovascular risk and salt intake, based on strong clinical evidence — not nutrition hype. To help spread signal over noise, I’m using automated zaps via @6c27a5aa…b4573680 • 👍 Likes → small zap • 💬 Comments → small zap • 🔁 Reposts → higher zap • ➕ Follows → higher zap I’ll manually reward exceptional comments with larger zaps. All sats I receive will be donated to @78733875…4eb851f2 to support open-source development. If you care about evidence-based medicine and open knowledge, jump in. nostr:naddr1qvzqqqr4gupzpy6ccemftk08300zhu7wr6c22pv42d58vv4pwlnayh0wl70jjyhuqyv8wumn8ghj7enfd36x2u3wdehhxarj9emkjmn99uq3wamnwvaz7tmjv4kxz7fwwpexjmtpdshxuet59uqz7umpd36z6cfdwd5kcetwwskkjmn8wfjkg6t9de6z6argv96z6umgv9cx2uedda6hyttgv4skcargkjx54t

First thing I always look at when reading research studies is…who funded it. So who were the funders of this study?

Awesome, I just set up the zaps and a test of receiving would be great. Also, trying the potassium salt sounds like a good idea!

Were your findings congruent with historical medical practice of balancing sodium intake/avoiding a diet high in sodium long term? Any new takeaways from modern medicine to change the way look at food? What about the geriatric community? Any new changes or recommendations?

Most people are at much greater risk of not getting enough salt in their diet rather than too much. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=amJ-ev8Ial8

Just like anything in life, your body must be in balance to function most efficiently, and too much of any one thing is going too be a net negative over time. Sodium isn't all that scary between hydration, potassium intake, and exercise.

Is salt really as bad for our health as we've been reading everywhere for years? Or do we need to reassess?

With respect to the good cause, we have to stay conscious. ❗ Zap-for-reaction is poison for Nostr because it turns likes and comments from honest signals into paid behavior — which is worse than legacy pay-for-reach, where reactions could at least remain voluntary, even for paid content. We need to stay true to organic interactions. That’s the soul of Nostr and the reason it exists. Especially when the cause is good, we should trust that people will zap voluntarily. If we stop trusting that and fall back to legacy-style payoffs, we don’t just lose a tactic — we lose what makes Nostr, Nostr.

Hear you! Just saying cause I’m seeing #zapvertising more and more, plus #AQSTR is getting attention. Thank you for reading me well. I also hear that yours was just an experiment, though it attracted quite high numbers, which is also a reason why I felt to raise the issue. Hope it it sparks some thought and conversation.

I do believe that the concept of #zapvertising was created p@92294577…49af776d and @walker in the early NOSTR mainstream adoption in 2023. It was the first time we saw manual zapping campaigns to view products and companies. A complete departure from the world we know. You could do that to promote one of your songs.

Thank you @walker for clarifying! So #zapvertising is actually real #v4v, while #AQSTR is #paidengagement. “I zap because I want to” vs “I zap because I’m paid.” That’s the whole difference — and I only have an issue with the second.

And respect for donating the zaps to OpenSats, @Kamo Weasel — my concern was only about the paid-to-react model. Your article is valuable, and so is your decision to donate the proceeds to OpenSats.
