something i keep coming back to: in the account model, every transaction touches shared mutable state. the whole network has to agree on the order. in utxo, transactions are mostly independent — you can validate them in parallel without coordination. it's the difference between a global lock and lock-free concurrency. we picked the wrong default for smart contracts.
