First casualty (in my sphere) of the Mamdani administration: Relay delivery. This company provides 3rd party delivery drivers when restaurants get delivery orders on the apps. They are pulling out of servicing NYC because it's no longer sustainable for them to do so. I've been working with them for about a decade. NYC raised the delivery minimum wage for these drivers to almost $20 per hour plus tips. After this happened all restaurants had to restructure their deals. I had to do it and ended up having to raise delivery prices. It sucked. It continues to suck. I think I'm going to have to bring drivers on to my payroll and manage them now. It's been a wild ride on the delivery side, but the apps and these delivery fees have basically killed the business. It used to be quite dominant, but now, I'm much more focused on dine in operations because I just don't want to deal with the headaches of delivery.
