People who are for Bitcoin progression need to be realistic. The minority are technical & ‘careful’ people, the majority aren’t. ‘Careful’ people measure twice and cut once. The majority are ‘messy’ and not technical. We should try to encourage the end state of Multi-sig ‘self-custody’ but understand everyone has different thresholds for technical understanding & levels of trust. The minority will be technical & DIY multi-sig with their own built in hardware,the majority won’t. It’s important we develop different custody solutions for Bitcoin to progress. One can analogize the progress of Bitcoin from a ‘self-custody’ standpoint to owning a car. If the only way of owning a car meant that you needed to know it inside-out and do your own service & maintenance on it, not many people would own cars.
