Thought I’d actually read the Bible. Ngl, am already feeling further from God than before and I’m only halfway through Genesis (everyone is behaving like assholes, including the Almighty). I remember reading something once about the most approachable order for a first timer to read the various bits of the bible - can anyone help me out?

This is so timely! I recently decided to read the Bible too and I just started a reading plan yesterday. I believe it covers the whole Bible but not in a strict cover-to-cover order. It was recommended to me and seemed like a good place to start

Oh that’s helpful. I understand one can’t apply current mores to historical indeed mythological accounts, but the whole “here take my virgin daughters to rape instead of these holy guests claiming my hospitality” etc. is straining my goodwill.

Your eyes are open. No point in attempting to create your own deception.

I get it. I have a lot of questions about that stuff 😅 When I've attempted this before, I've never made it past Exodus, so I'm hoping the structured guide will help 🙈

I hear you. I thought like this for many many years, it felt intellectually rigorous and morally honest to me. But. In recent times I have had to acknowledge the presence of actual evil, which leads me to suspect the existence of its absolute opposite. I am looking for Good, I need to not let this go unexamined.

"Looking for good" is different than "how can I twist this seemingly bad thing into a good thing because others say it's supposed to be good". I believe in an overall divine being that we can call God. I believe this being is what we all stem from, and is so full of love that it's difficult for us to comprehend. I believe God is omniscient, omnipotent, omnipresent and wants the best for us. I also see through Jahovah's BS. The being referred to as Jahovah is quite obviously not God. He's petty, has demands and needs that most humans don't require, and basically acts like an immature psycho. I saw through this charade as a child, but continued on, doing my best to see all the good that the belief systems around me offered. As I matured, and started seeing how people use control and manipulation, it became quite obvious that there are many people, some as children, that are far more divine than that asshole. My suggestion is to just keep reading. You have a brain that God gave you, and you appear to be using it. God wants us to make use of our gifts to see the truth. Asking for a method to be involved in illusion probably makes God face-palm. There is divinity in The Bible, and it will jump out each time you encounter it.

God is the limit of optimizing coherence in every direction. God is infinity. God is an attractor, not a person, a basin that you sink into if you stringently purify yourself and master the knowledge applied in motion of His Law.

His? That contradicts "not a person".

person is a mask. the being is the memory, both internal and the memory that others store of that being. what you are is an animal. who you are is a projection that is more or less disjoint.

same deal with God. he can project a person. that's how we are "created in His image" it's the projection. we are a lower dimensional, simpler version, with a smaller pattern. we can embody a small piece of God. this is what righteous means.
