Hey #sxworldwide i wanted to ask - what would you like to see next year? Im talking in terms of what sort of interactivity would make this a more immersive community experience for you? Did you like having only a superchat and the chatter happening on nostr? Would a bot relaying boost comments onto nostr be interesting or annoying? Would you like to see more on screen elements and surprises or is simple better? Do you like all the different wallet options (when they work 😬) or do you not care? Whatever we do next, I want to build on top of all that we learned to create the Greatest Show Online!

We tried to but we ran into issues with signing - thus delayed start. We had it all ready to go but couldnt broadcast our feed. Instead had to disconnect and scramble to backup backend setup immediately. The crew did a tremendous job getting us live. Maybe a restream on nostr would have been safer but we wanted to preserve live splits. Its a trickier thing than meets the eye! We have ideas on this front though.

Yo. I would like to see some kind of strapline on the screen telling me who is playing right now. And maybe a button to open the schedule like a (TV guide) or at minimum to tell me who is next?

Was there a live chat IRC? If so, I didn't see it. That would have been good. And a banner displaying the current artist, etc would be good.

These are all excellent suggestions. Strap line would be doable, linked to our live chapters. Should be easy to implement! For this show, because we were short staffed and it was such a mix of signals (live stage vs livestream vs prerecorded vs open mic) and each one requires a separate workflow, staying on schedule was a pipe dream. Our format simply had too many moving pieces for a firm schedule. Depending on format, I can definitely see how a TV guide type thing would be slick! I originally wanted to post times on the website. I ultimately resorted to posting NOW PLAYING notes on nostr. Wasn't ideal but its what I could do in real time. We'll refine for the next!

Yeah thats a second request for the banner. Will def implement on the next. We opted not to do an irc chat for a few reasons, lmk what you think: I wanted to try and keep things simplified. I wanted an experience that would translate for those at home with a mouse, as well as those at a watch party or public venue on a big screen. This was in part a tech showcase for venues at sxsw. Irc chat box would have required a login with our current templates, and that would be a lot of wasted real-estate if it was on a big screen. We didnt have the time this go around to rebuild that. We also wanted to incentivize tipping the artists. Gotta pay for space on the stream! I think for live on location and livestream acts, an irc chat would have been great. Artists often feed off that interactivity.

I was only thinking of those sad people were sitting in front of the tele alone with no friends. I imagine they might enjoy some real-time social interaction, but what would I know - that's not me at all 👍 Maybe publicising a hashtag to follow during the stream would be a good stop-gap solution? Encouraging people to boost in order to chat is a good ploy though! But some methods showed the user as anonymous. I mostly used fountain because it can cross-post to nostr.

We have a bridge between the IRC and Nostr but we were either having issues with it or Nostr so I don't think it was working. I didn't really check Nostr streams tbh but a few of us were hanging out in the Bowl After Bowl IRC channel during this.
