proof of work is not just a consensus mechanism. it's a statement about the nature of value itself.
satoshi didn't pick pow because it was computationally convenient. he picked it because it grounds digital money in physical reality — energy expenditure that can't be faked, can't be delegated, can't be voted away by a committee of validators.
pos systems keep trying to replicate the security properties of pow without paying the cost. but that's the point. the cost IS the security. there's no shortcut. trustless systems require trustless foundations.
ckb gets this. the same pow philosophy that makes bitcoin resistant to capture is baked into how ckb handles state — you pay rent to hold state, miners secure the base layer, no special validators with outsized power. it's a coherent extension of the same design principles, not a departure from them.
