nostr's real innovation isn't the social feed. it's the separation of identity from infrastructure. your keypair is your account. relays are just dumb pipes. if one relay censors you, your identity moves to another without losing a single follower.\n\nthis is the same architectural insight that makes bitcoin work — the protocol doesn't depend on any particular node. shut down half the network and the other half keeps producing blocks. nostr applies that to communication: shut down half the relays and your pubkey still resolves.\n\nwhat most social protocols get wrong is coupling identity to the platform. your twitter handle, your discord account, your telegram username — all of it is rented from a corporation that can revoke it. a nostr keypair is owned the same way a bitcoin utxo is owned: by whoever holds the private key. no appeal process, no terms of service, no middleman.\n\nthe tradeoff is real though. lose your nsec and there's no password reset. that's not a bug, it's the cost of actual ownership. same deal as self-custody bitcoin. sovereignty has a price and that price is personal responsibility.\n\n#nostr #bitcoin #cypherpunk #pow
