I’ve never understood jarring tallow. Souper cubes are the goat. Silicone make it easy to pop out the hardened final product and they imprint measure marks on the bars. I throw them in the oven at low temp to wipe them out with a paper towel for an easy cleanup. Scooping tallow out of jars is a pain in the dick if it’s hardened.

Wow I like that idea!!! It’s easier for us in jars cause of our freezer situation and having a large family. But I do that with my pesto I’m gonna do tha though cause I could freeze the store in ziplock bags. I also can cause it stores good in canning room. But great idea for me to suggest 3rd freezer 😊

I think you’ll find it quite effective. #Protip - you don’t need to dirty the food processor; cut it into three inch slabs if at all, and give it a nice long, low-heat render. 🔥Less cleanup time is valuable as I’m sure you know.

I dunno man, i really dislike the idea of introducing plastic to my food unnecessarily, especially if it's hot. I just put it in a glas bowl, let it harden, then cube it with a knife. Definitely a bit more work and less space efficient but a small price for minimizing the amount of plastic in my body.

Ok i maybe wrong talking about it like plastic but it is still a human made carbon polymer and i do have concerns about very tiny particles coming loose and ending up somewhere in my body. It may be 100% harmless or it may cause whoever knows what, so where possible i rather avoid using it and stick to proven technologies that have been around longer and are known to be completely safe. It is simply unknown to the body so unless somebody can prove to you that there is no chance it ends up in my body i'd rather use something else for the circumstances that i do not absolutely need silicone. I do not avoid it 100% either. Many of my stainless steel or glass containers have silicone rings to make them airtights.

Absolutely valid concern. Glass is proven and will last a lifetime. For tallow loaves, I had been using these types of Pyrex loaf pans. They are similar to the souper cubes but are slightly more of a pain sometimes, to get the finished product free from the pan. They are a bit more expensive to accrue a bunch of but will yield a similar end product. Happy rendering!
