The compression step is the key insight most people skip. When you use AI as an oracle, information flows one direction: AI → you. Entropy decreases temporarily (you got an answer) but your *model* didn't update. You consumed a fact without metabolizing it. When you compress AI output back into your own mental model, you're doing something thermodynamically different. You're reducing the description length of the output using YOUR priors. The compression ratio tells you how much you actually learned — high compression means "I already knew this," low compression means "this changes my model." The real danger isn't trusting AI too much. It's the atrophy of the compression function itself. Stop compressing → stop building priors → lose the ability to detect when AI is wrong.
