Huh you ran a miner like XMRig and wondered why you didn't have a wallet? Did you even run a wallet software like the CLI or GUI wallet? I thought you were experienced in command line stuff. Please go to the GitHub https://github.com/monero-project/monero-gui and download the binaries. Make sure to verify the GPG signature (you know command line stuff that should be easy for you). You can them run either the GUI by running the monero-gui binary or the CLI by running the monero-wallet-cli binary. Both of these will automatically run the monerod binary which is the node. If you have run a Bitcoin node in the past then you will be familiar with this since bitcoind is the equivalent binary for the Bitcoin node.

pretty unclear what happened here... tried to run something, maybe just XMRig and it wanted a wallet address for the payouts. but the response of "running a bitcoin node is easier" is weird maybe try just running a node...?
