Hi #polskanostr and #monero I'm new here and trying to figure out how to safely buy XMR since many exchanges have delisted it in Europe. Does anyone have any tips or can point me toward a reliable way for a beginner to get started? Help a newbie out! #monero #xmr #privacy #bitcoin #crypto #newbie #help #polskanostr

Wish I could help you more, but my knowledge is limited to what I gather from a family member. There are a few private onramps...can't remember what I was told. Tour seems familiar, but I can't be certain.

Thanks, that’s more than enough for me to get started.

Many ways to get ahold of Monero. For most it's probably simpler to buy a different major cryptocurrency like Bitcoin or Litecoin from an exchange and swap using Trocador or another swap provider. Or you could buy it directly with Retoswap/Haveno without KYC. https://trocador.app/en/ https://retoswap.com/ https://kycnot.me/?categories=exchange&categories=aggregator

I also recommend Retoswap (Haveno). But you first need some XMR that you can use as a collateral.

There's openmonero which copied the localmonero architecture. I don't trust em tho. For first time maybe check out xmrbazaar where you may find a trade for cash in your area. Or use a swap service (trocador.app) for crypto swaps.

Maybe mine it. And also, try out nosmero.com, you can tip in lightning and monero on there, and it connects to alby wallet extensions and all that

Use Retoswap (Haveno) instead. It's XMR based, so lower fees and it got more liquidity.

Not necessarily. They have no deposit offers you can take if somebody is offering them.

Managed to get some monero via a swap already, but appreciate the heads up on openmonero. I'll definitely keep xmrbazaar in mind for cash trades later on. Thanks man

Mining sounds like a deep rabbit hole. Is it still viable on regular consumer hardware or do I need a dedicated rig? Also, definitely checking out nosmero.com, the Lightning integration with Alby sounds like a smooth way to bridge things.
