What to believe and who to trust when everything we see on a screen can be faked? You verify. That’s why we travelled across El Salvador for two weeks, the first country in history to adopt Bitcoin as legal tender. What we witnessed gave us tremendous hope. A country that only a few years ago had one of the highest crime rates in the world is now safe for locals and visitors alike. We spoke with many locals who lived through the change. Every single one told us the same thing: life is much better now. Many thanked Bukele for it. We saw Bitcoin being accepted across the country, from large venues to small market stalls, made possible by the efforts of passionate and dedicated Bitcoiners. We are so glad we timed our visit with the incredible Plan B Forum because it allowed us to meet innovators we admire, connect with amazing Bitcoiners from around the world and visit circular economies. Satoshi realigned the incentives for a better future. El Salvador followed and is already reaping the rewards. Seeing it with your own eyes changes everything.
