Solid work. Seems this one was tough for many, possibly a par 5

The word itself wasn't crazy but the choices were much higher. It becomes luck of the draw rather than skill in these situations.

Indeed! Part of why I like to just vibe an opener, instead of going with some strategic one like "adieu" each time. Don't wanna fall into same ruts as most might, and give myself a higher chance for a lucky break. That's my reasoning anyway. It's also more fun imo

I haven't reviewed the logic but my assumption is that the choice of word is slightly less than random. I've not seen the same word twice yet so I would bet there is some limit of word resuse. So, my thought is to eliminate well used letters first, as they have a higher chance of being in that random word. But then, my thought is that it can go in two general direction. As letters are eliminated the choices for the word dwindle dramatically and there is a wholly logical approach to reach the word. The next, it doesn't swing dramatically and the choices seem endless. Each attempt is random and does little to reduce the options. The problem I find is knowing which direction it is going. So in the end, I don't think about it. I start with the same word and then just hop to wherever my brain decides to go ๐Ÿ˜.

I believe it's on the GitHub set up by Pete Winn. Iirc there are something like 15k words possible, and it's random based on some sha hash thing done at refresh time. So, there likely is some smart strat one could employ. I forget where he said he got the word lists from, but one nice thing is that it's not as sterilized as the NYTs list, but I assume it still includes loose rules like "no plurals" (an exception being "cacti" though).

Cacti is certainly a plural and I wasn't expecting it ๐Ÿ˜‚ I don't know. If it was truly random then one would get the perception that it wasn't. 15k isn't that large of a list. Similar to how they had to unrandomize music selection when you want to play random tracks in your playlist. Truly random doesn't feel random for small sets. Maybe it is and just hasn't been going long enough to see those little oddities.
