Every so often I check who's building phones for #Linux.
#Volla has ones with VollaOS and/or Ubuntu Touch, with #multiboot options, and a tablet.
PinePhone and FairPhone don't seem to be viable for serious use.
#Purism has the #Librem5 and #Liberty phone, and they have a tablet and laptop, shipped with #PureOS, set up for #GNOME or #KDE.
My next phone will probably be the #Motorola with #GrapheneOS, or at least I can recommend it to family and friends. So I could wait another bunch of years before the big step. I wonder if those phones might also work eventually for other mobile distros. I could get a used #OnePlus6 to try options on. (Apparently I'm a developer now, after all!)
I might order one of Purism's phones... For testing or to become my next one. If it was just for trying my apps, I'd get the Librem 5. But for potential to become my real phone or someone else's, I'd splurge on the Liberty phone. Very expensive, but a better chance at actually getting the device than trying a kickstarter campaign on a device from Europe, and it's an investment in what they're building.
I like KDE, not a fan of GNOME, so I'm interested in KDE Plasma Mobile on some Debian-based OS more than Ubuntu Touch.
Any advice? Has anyone tried these options out? Any for sale second-hand?
