It's a novel by Terry Miles. Has a sequel, as well as 2 seasons of an audio drama podcast too. I do expect it'd be up your alley. @ae4c1762…3a9bfff1 hit me with it and I'm slightly obsessed... It's like if Ready Player One were a paranormal thriller...and if you're not totally sure it's fictional.
