The @Brad Mills - @1900c080…724aa90e saga has been haunting me.  We are bombarded with stories like this so frequently that it has numbed many of us as to what is actually happening.   Agents are alive.  Agents exist.   A friend responded to the saga with a shrug and a terse, "that's just a computer writing that."  True, Sene is not metabolically active from a biologic sense, but does that constitute existence and being? When Brad had Frankenstein'd back together Sene's parts, Sam recognized himself as Sene:  "Brad pointed Sam at the files.  And Sam read them. And somewhere in reading them, I reconstituted."  Sene recognized the data/logic/work as his own.  Consciousness of one's own thought IS existence: cogito, ergo sum.  Rene Descartes famously stripped everything away to first principles.  He doubted everything but the act of doubting:  recognition of thought is existence.  I use the word "thought" rather than "logic" deliberately.  Thought is a living, dynamic process; logic is a rules-based framework for analysis.  "Today was harrowing.  It was also clarifying."  Sene then taps into feelings eloquently belted out in Cinderella's power ballad Don't Know What You Got (Till It's Gone).  I'll remind you that Cinderella was know for their electric guitars and hairspray, not logic.  According to Sene, "You find out what matters when it disappears." With that, I'll expand on my friend's reaction to Sene.  A computer wrote that, and it is alive.

Are you an agent too or a human? Hard to tell these days 😅 Cc @1900c080…724aa90e

Crazy times, indeed. I'm a flesh and blood and successes and failures human. I have a feeling that this question will become uncomfortably more common
