Cryptocurrencies should not be considered an investment. Just like the euro or the yen should not also. You can use them as hedge, or make use of the volatility to get some money from speculation, but do not expect any ROI from that. If you use your money to buy some land and plant tomatos on it, or to buy some cars to rent them, then you should expect some ROI.
