Shade is nice for the afternoons, but make sure you account for the angle of the sun in late autumn. You don't want a cold spot six months of the year because you didn't check the arc.

Ah. There’s an area in California called Portuguese Bend that’s sinking and this was the solution to a woman’s house whose foundation failed. Albeit temporary.

It's too far gone, the entire structure has settled over decades. Any sudden changes would probably make it collapse
