I would pluck them off, just for ease of storage. The seed is what is important for next year. I have no memory of what I did last year

Seen a lot of people online who save zinnia seeds still attached to the dried petals. It’s a bit tedious to pluck each petal off the seed. So I’m going to try that for this year. Besides the petals all the other chaff is discarded already.

It’s about 7 quarts of seeds with petals left attached. I’m so tempted to just store them in a paper bag as is instead of going through them all.
