I own a few ex-Soviet TA-57 landline field telephones. Those things just don't break down, they were designed to survive as long as possible in a thermonuclear end of the world. Going to install them in my farm sheds, where there's no mobile reception, mostly for household / intercom use. What else could / should I wire / switchboard into the same analog voice circuit, and why? #diy #analog #telephone #comms #communication #electronics

Satellite sounds/morse? Music-clip emojis? Ragtime? A feed from a microphone far away in a field? None of these seem good, yet, I want them all.

Microphone far away has potential, hmmm. Maybe the stream. Useless, but pleasant. I thought about a CB radio, but it would need to be switchboarded, and then why not use it directly? Also planning to install a cellular module with external antenna on a RPi for internet, could wire the cellular module's analog voice to the telephone line as part of that. But if I have internet, people can just message/email me if calls aren't going through.…
