I think things degrade though—even sealed ones. My old film cameras last forever but the seals eventually fail. what are you talking about specifically?

whenever you like. whisky doesn't age in the bottle, its already as good as it gets. hope you've kept the cork wet though

nah, just tip it up every now ans then to keep the cork a bit wet. still got the seal around it so should be fine.
