I'd recommend Linux Mint, as it has a good balance of usability, respect for user privacy and up-to-dateness. I wouldn't recommend Ubuntu since it has a potential severe security hole (something called "snap packages" which has been quite controversial), and Canonical, the company behind it is known for poor judgement irt. User privacy in the past. But it's okay as a learning environment, as long as you don't make it your actual go-to operating system. #linux
