Are there clients that log your pubkey when you sign in, so they can add you to their relay & start vacuuming up all your activity?

Citrine is a local relay on android that does that.

Yeah, that's a relay and it's main purpose. I was wondering about clients, just troubleshooting some weirdness I've been experiencing the last few days.

Ah. Well, several clients let you directly access citrine's collection, so... I figured that might serve the purpose?

I wasn't looking for a solution, just some understanding, but I appreciate your dillegence.

amethyst kinda does that, if you connect to a new relay and it notices your notes aren't there it will (silently) send everything it has at it.

I meant as, a client doing things in such a way that favors a "take" rather than a "be given" method of data acquisition, through a means that might leave a user unaware. Leveraging permissionlessness against a potential customer to decrease their own 3rd party dependence. Not that the outcome is much different. I think I am just allergic to dark patterns. 😅

So amethyst takes an approach of heavy distribution rather than heavy collection since it doesn't have its own relays?
