Why? So you step out directly on the curb? Do you have that in America? I guess usually you'd step through the van, no? In which case it doesn't matter which side the seat is on.

And they usually stay in the car and just reach out. Our mailboxes are usually at the curb.

Oooo good question, I don’t really know πŸ‘€πŸ™πŸ½ I always see my mail guy walking around with his bag of mail but never seen him in his van πŸ₯Ή I always get confused which side to get in the car in the US 🀣😭 always going to the drivers side by accident

Well we tried, and we'll never know. I'm somehow immune to countries with opposite driving sides. My mind just flips a switch and it's in right-hand drive mode. Luckily I don't drive in such countries.
