He is articulating the big picture of what has been happening for the last six months more clearly than I've heard elsewhere.
Adam may be one of the best experts on the issue of spam in the context of freedom in the digital domain. After all, he invented one of the most important technologies used in Bitcoin proof of work for exactly this purpose. And he touches on this a little bit in the interview.
And though he ends up on the filters don't work side of the argument, which will bother those people on the other side, he does it with nuance and maturity. He doesn't mock the people who want to stop spam. He just points out why he thinks certain actions would be not only moot, but have second order effects that make the problem worse.
Anyway, I don't know why I'm trying to mash my opinion into this. I guess in part because I resonate with most of what Adam says here, and have for quite some time, but it's very difficult to communicate this in the conversation where there is so much shit being thrown back and forth.
