Outstanding post. I worked at an animal sanctuary for a year and saw this coddling firsthand. I see it with domesticated dogs as well, locked in a house for 95% of the day. Barking ad nauseum at passers by through the street window. This primal instinct and drive to explore is being taken from them. I think theres beauty in wanting to give our animal pals the best quality of life, but I believe the anthropomorphism is getting out of hand. And to your point, the same domestication is happening to the human family.
