To me? Monster Hunter. As far as in terms of what it did for tech in video games, either Quake or Mario 64. I also think Ocarina of Time did a ton of leg work. It's hard to pick any ONE game.
Unironically the best pvp multiplayer game I've ever played is Paladins. Don't care that it's a OW knock off. It's genuinely peak.
Best single player games are probably factorio and minecraft (vanilla survival).

Agreed. I've played deeply thought provoking games; I've played games that have amazing visuals and sound; I've played games that the world feelslike a lived-in; but never all three elements in the same game.
