I'm starting to sound like a broken record... If you're tired of bot replies, you can set up a better inbox arrangement to help with this. If you're not allowed to set up better inboxes in your client, you can move to a client that respects your wishes.

It's too complicated, nostr is too much like x, it will turn to trash as more people join, we need a follow request/friend request like Facebook

It's not complicated, it's different. With no central authority to validate that 2 people agree, the mutual contract concept, like FB, doesn't work. But you can limit your publishing visibility to a select group of individuals and guard your notifications from unwanted attention & spam... which is basically the same thing in practice. You just have to take the initiative to set it up.

I got no clue what you just said, it's too much work for entertainment, Facebook does work, what doesn't work is the people in charge of it

Wisp will soon enable ONLY receive notifications and threads from your inbox relays. Just need a bit more critical mass before that doesn't feel completely broken and missing most replies

You both have a point... Many people who come to nostr just want to be social and for it to turn on and "just work"... not to have to do mental gymnastics or listen to an hour-long podcast to learn to set up which relays for this and for that. I WORK by day in tech (websites/server admin) and still find nostr to have a steep learning curve, making on-boarding something that takes weeks if you don't have time to devote and just want some fun (or doomscrolling, no judgement) at the end of the workday. On the other hand, there are lesser-known but very nice little nostr forks/experimental clients out there that have options to add or browse suggested relays they might not otherwise know about. https://jumble.social/ does this very nicely.

Jumble has done a great job of leaning into nostr's strengths rather than treating them as weird flaws that need to be hidden, and it is one of the greater clients for it. In fact, it is one of the best for interacting with others in a more fb-like way, like mar was suggesting. Even there it is different than FB and it always will be. But by how much really? Is moving to privacy respecting relays actually more complicated than navigating fb's giant menus to change privacy settings? I don't think so, it's just a different flow.

I've not actively used fb since 2012 so I'll have to take your word for it
