Dead relays is a serious issue on Nostr. It results in users losing their data, especially when there are few migration tools and clients doesn't automatically re-publish when changing relays. If you login to #Nostria now with a known dead relay, you'll get this notification at the bottom of the app: On the Account Relays there is also a very clear indicator if you're using a dead relay. I found @59fbee73โ€ฆ84cb770f has a few of them... maybe time to update? Next quest is how do you find relays? That is coming very soon! Adding this to #asknostr if anyone wonder how to clean up their #nostr relays.

Nostria has a debug console for this purpose, can be opened in the Commands, is called "Debug: Ignored Relays". It will show other profiles who are still using any of these dead relays. People like @50d94fc2โ€ฆdf281d63, @d49a9023โ€ฆ990fa8df, @101a112cโ€ฆ8721b0df might want to check their relays. Hey Perma, you have 28 relays in your list, at least 11 of those are dead.

It's a bigger issue than you think. There are other big issues as well, such as that almost every relay resolves any character at the relay's path. This oversight in NIP-01 that causes ghost bugs in almost every client and is extremely difficult to mitigate without solutions like NIP-66.

I've been working on this for 3 years https://github.com/sandwichfarm/nostr-watch https://github.com/nostr-protocol/nips/blob/master/66.md
